Northwest Horse Fair Info

Gypsy Horses appeared at the NW Horse Fair & Expo in Albany Oregon on March 24th through 25th representing members of the AGBHA. It was the first time that Gypsy Horses were present at the Expo, and they were the hit of the event. (Following in close second were the mini donkeys because they were just so darned cute). The beautiful horses drew large crowds to the booth. This gave us an opportunity to introduce the raffle horse, Lord Duncan, to everyone. He is much cuter in person than his posters portray, and he personally takes credit for most of the raffle tickets we sold.

Furnishings provided by Linda Dennis beautifully decorated the booth. We finished late Thursday evening putting it all together, and we were ready for the stream of visitors that started through on Friday morning. Our stalls were occupied by Lord Duncan, the AGHBA raffle colt; Lazy River Titan – a three year old gelding owned by Sherry Evertson of Lazy River Gypsies; Lord of the Dance, a 3 year old stallion, The Gypsy Rover, a 3 year old stallion owned by Jeannie & Patrice Pasturel of Mulberry Lane Farm; Romni Looloodi Yaven, a 6 year old mare, & Ms. Bodi, a 13 year old mare owned by Lynn Strauman of Gypsy Rose Ranch; Marquis, a 5 year old stallion, & Bravo, a 5 year old gelding owned by Linda Dennis of North Star Gypsies.

AGHBA members Jeannie & Patrice Pasturel also had two stallion booths, one for their two gypsy stallions The Joker (Lord of the Ring),& Silver Cloud Pegasus, and one for their Gypsy Pony stallion, The Gambler. His two pony colt buddies Checkers & Picasso were also present. One of Jeannie’s booths was decorated to look like a Vardo. It was so well presented that they won 2nd place in the booth-decorating contest among very stiff competition.

AGHBA members gave a 15-minute presentation each day with our horses. The bleachers always got a little fuller as our showtime approached. Between manning the booth, getting horses ready for “showtimes”, and chatting with visitors, we did manage to work in a little more shopping than we should have. We will all be decked out with a little more “bling” at our next outing. Although we put in long hours and were generally a bad influence on each other when it came to shopping, we had a great time and are looking forward to our next event.

Special thanks go out to Cybil who spent time manning the booth while we were horsing around (or shopping) and Myra Hollibaugh who not only did booth time but took the photos that are part of this report. Though a few are a bit fuzzy, they capture the essence of our participation.
