Ability Awareness Week 2008

Jim and Diane of Happy Camp Cobs represented the AGHBA in June at the 1st Ability Awareness Week 2008 at Sequoia Middle School in Moorpark CA.

They brought Lord Duncan and Braveheart as prime examples of the Gypsy horses to be used for therapeutic riding programs.

The Kids absolutely enjoyed the horses and had loads of question. We even learned something from one of the kids. The Horses really Loved these little yellow flowers that looked like low covering weeds, as one of the kids asked us why they liked them so much, we had to say we really didn't know. One kid piped up and said "I know," if you squeeze the flower it smells like pineapple. Maybe that's why they like them so much." Sure enough we had to try and they did smell just like pineapples. Amazing!!

We all had a couple of great days of learning together and the kids were wonderful!! We look forward to many more events such as this to raise awareness of those with special needs.
